Besiktas take on Trabzonspor in the final match of Turkish Cup. The match will be played on Thursday, April 23rd at Atatürk Olimpiyat (Istanbul).
Besiktas won all three domestic trophies in 2021. However, they experienced a decline, finishing third last spring. This season, the Istanbul giant struggled even more. Currently, Besiktas are barely finishing the season while contemplating a new coaching appointment for the summer, aiming to secure at least a 4th place finish. On the bright side, they managed to reach the cup final by eliminating Ankaragücü in the semifinals (1-0 at home after a 0-0 draw in the capital).

Trabzonspor delivered decent results. The Burgundy-Blue team reminded everyone why they are considered a giant of Turkish football by winning the league title in 2022, their 7th overall, after a long drought. However, they subsequently dropped to 6th place. This season, Avcı’s team has shown definite improvement. They are set to finish third in the Süper Lig, trailing only behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe. They also had to fend off Istanbul Başakşehir, who were consistently right behind them. In the cup, they made it to another final, albeit with a relatively favorable draw. Notably, in the semifinals, they eliminated Fatih Karagümrük. While they had a tight 3-2 home victory, they won the return leg in Istanbul with a commanding 4-0 scoreline.
Trabzonspor had a streak of 7 unbeaten matches, although most ended in draws. In February, however, the Eagles secured a 2-0 victory in Istanbul. The match will be held in Istanbul, which might explain why the Eagles are considered favorites. Nonetheless, the visitors have shown commendable form. Therefore, it’s worth betting that the Burgundy-Blue team won’t lose in regular time.
