Bayern Munich take on the visitors Borussia Monchengladbach in the round 25 match of German Bundesliga. The match will be played on Friday, March 6th at Allianz Arena (Munich).
Bayern can think only about the upcoming start of the Champions League playoffs. The Star of the South, after a trophyless season the year before last, managed to lure only Vincent Kompany to the head coach position. Nevertheless, he coped with the main task back then, confidently bringing the Bundesliga title — the famous “salad bowl” — back to Munich. Now his team is clearly determined to collect the maximum number of trophies. One has already been secured in the summer, when they won the German Super Cup. In recent weeks they have also been maintaining a strong run of results in the league, steadily picking up points and keeping a comfortable lead at the top of the table. Their performances have looked very confident domestically, which allows them to rotate focus toward upcoming European challenges without too much pressure. The Champions League has been the toughest competition so far — the knockout stage is only just beginning there. Meanwhile, they have already reached the semifinals of the domestic cup. In the Bundesliga, the intrigue has practically disappeared. In the previous round they also managed to win in Dortmund, even if only by a minimal margin. Overall, by the time spring arrived they had essentially closed the question of whether they would retain the title, allowing them to concentrate more on the Champions League.

Borussia Mönchengladbach have a glorious history and some relatively recent successes. However, the last few seasons have not gone well for them. At the end of the previous campaign the team only closed the top ten with 45 points. They parted ways with Gerardo Seoane only after a poor start to the new championship as well. At first it seemed that they had accidentally found a decent replacement — Eugen Polanski, a recent player who had been serving as interim coach, started quite well. Still, the team has struggled to maintain any consistency in results, alternating occasional positive matches with disappointing setbacks. However, after the interim tag was removed, results started to fade again — during the winter they managed to collect only a couple of victories. In the latest round they finally managed to defeat Union Berlin. For a long time neither side could open the scoring, but eventually the hosts earned a penalty deep in stoppage time and converted it to secure the win.
The 3–0 victory in October became the fifth consecutive win for the Rekordmeister in this matchup. It is clear that the champions should win again; the only question is how convincingly. The bet is on the hosts with a -2.5 handicap.
Prediction for the match: Bayern Munich to win with -2.5 handicap.
