Bayer struck gold when they trusted Xabi Alonso, who at that moment had only modest results and minimal coaching experience — yet that didn’t stop him from delivering the best season in the club’s history, going unbeaten and winning a “golden double,” including the first-ever Bundesliga title. Problems were expected, and Ten Hag, appointed in the summer, worked in such a way that he was fired by autumn. His replacement, Julmann, has also faced setbacks, including the disastrous 2–7 against PSG. Still, the overall progress is undeniable. In the previous round they defeated Wolfsburg 3–1, and followed it up with a strong 2–0 away win against Manchester City. Recently Bayer have shown greater stability, particularly in their attacking sequences, which are becoming more cohesive from match to match. Their home performances have also improved, giving the team confidence heading into crucial fixtures.

Borussia Dortmund have a clear goal, but do not always move confidently towards it. The Black and Yellows appointed their former player Nuri Şahin as head coach last summer. And although he immediately faced difficulties, the young manager was trusted for a long time… Strangely enough, when he was finally replaced by Kovač, the Croatian at least managed to secure fourth place in the Bundesliga standings. Now he is trying to push the team forward, and overall the results have been solid. Still, they have fallen far behind Bayern after losing Der Klassiker, and more importantly, they cannot break away from the chasing pack. Their 3–3 draw with Stuttgart is another sign of their inconsistency. In the Champions League, however, they comfortably beat Villarreal 4–0. Despite mixed league results, Dortmund remain highly effective in attack, frequently scoring multiple goals even in difficult matches. Their away form has also shown signs of improvement, helping them stay competitive against stronger opponents.
In recent years Borussia have generally had the upper hand, but last season the sides exchanged victories. This match definitely won’t be dull. We expect the teams to produce a total of over 2.5 goals.
