Barcelona vs Real Madrid Prediction 10 May 2026

Barcelona take on the visitors Real Madrid in the round 35 match of Spanish LaLiga. The match will be played on Sunday, May 10th at Camp Nou (Barcelona).

Barcelona appointed Hansi Flick in 2024 after ending the previous campaign completely trophyless while still dealing with major financial problems. Hansi managed to significantly improve the team almost immediately, and Barcelona eventually won every domestic Spanish trophy that season. In the current campaign, after confidently lifting the Supercopa de España, they then stumbled twice against Atlético de Madrid. Barcelona’s attacking form has remained excellent in recent weeks, especially in league matches, where they continue to dominate possession and create chances almost at will. At the same time, the team has occasionally shown vulnerability in high-pressure knockout fixtures, particularly when forced to chase large deficits. In both the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League, they lost the first legs by overly heavy margins and then failed to complete full remontadas in the return matches. Still, in La Liga the title race had practically lost all suspense by mid-spring. After the victory over CA Osasuna, Barcelona now need just one more point — although it is obvious they would prefer to seal the title against their historic rivals.

Real Madrid are already preparing for next season. “Los Blancos” have become hostages to their own history and ambitions. After losing every domestic trophy in Spain to the Catalans last season, Carlo Ancelotti was dismissed once again. The club then turned to Xabi Alonso, who had once starred in Madrid’s midfield. However, his coaching spell began with an early elimination at the FIFA Club World Cup, and he was eventually sacked following defeat to Barça in the Super Cup final. Madrid’s recent league performances have looked far less convincing than expected, especially away from home, where they have dropped crucial points against weaker opposition. Even so, the team still regularly produces dangerous attacking football and remains capable of punishing any defensive mistakes from opponents. Under Álvaro Arbeloa, “Los Blancos” were immediately knocked out of the Copa del Rey by modest Albacete Balompié. The Champions League campaign went somewhat better, as Madrid eliminated SL Benfica and Manchester City FC in the playoffs, only to run into FC Bayern Munich and lose both matches despite putting up a fight. At the same time, more dropped points in La Liga killed off the title intrigue, allowing Barcelona to build a serious lead after briefly falling behind earlier in the season. Following a draw with Real Betis Balompié, Madrid were in danger of officially surrendering top spot last round already. But after beating RCD Espanyol, they at least mathematically prolonged the race.

Barcelona have won four El Clásicos in a row, including the 3-2 extra-time victory in the cup final. Xabi Alonso did manage to beat the Catalans earlier in the autumn, but then lost to them again in the Super Cup. Barcelona should be fully motivated to secure the title with a victory here. Back “Més que un club” to win this match at home and officially defend their crown.

Prediction for the match: Barcelona to win.
