Bahamas take on the visitors Anguilla in round 1 match of CONCACAF Series. The match will be played on Wednesday, November 12th at Truman Bodden Stadium (George Town).
The Bahamas rarely give their fans something to cheer about. The “Baha Boys” have never really made a breakthrough in their footballing history. They have not only failed to qualify for a World Cup but have also never reached the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Even in the purely regional Caribbean Cup, featuring mostly modest teams, they appear infrequently and without much success. In the Nations League, they’ve returned to the weakest Division C, where they remain. Their last qualification campaign was disastrous — they lost all their matches to Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, and even Saint Kitts and Nevis, with a combined goal difference of 1–22. Since June, they haven’t played a single match, not even a friendly, and only now have they decided to hold a short training camp with a couple of warm-up games. Given their long period of inactivity, it’s difficult to expect any sharp improvement, though this break might have allowed them to regroup mentally. Still, the Bahamas often struggle to stay organized under pressure, especially in matches where they are expected to dictate the pace.

Anguilla only began playing international football in the 1990s, and since then have shown almost no tangible progress, losing the vast majority of their matches. In the most recent World Cup qualifying campaign, they were defeated by every opponent — not only Suriname and El Salvador but also Puerto Rico and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Across those four games, they failed to score a single goal while conceding 21. After that embarrassing run, they didn’t play a single friendly match. Now, however, they’ve traveled to the Cayman Islands for a short camp that includes two fixtures — first against the Bahamas, then three days later versus the hosts. Recent performances show Anguilla’s ongoing issues with consistency and confidence, especially away from home. Their defense tends to crumble early in matches, leaving them chasing the game far too soon.
In the 2000 World Cup qualifiers, the Bahamians won both matches. Later, in the 2018–19 CONCACAF Nations League, the sides played out a 1–1 draw. This is a clash between two very weak sides, but they are roughly on the same level. Expect the game to end with “total over 2.5 goals.”
Prediction for the match: Over 2.5 scored goals.
