Atalanta take on the visitors Bayern Munich in the first leg of UEFA Chmapions League round of 1/8-finals. The match will be played on Tuesday, March 10th at New Balance Arena (Bergamo).
Atalanta had long been associated with Gasperini — it was precisely his many years of work that elevated the club to the level of one of Italy’s leading sides. Bayern are rightly considered one of the tournament favorites. FC Hollywood were left without trophies after the season before last. Even Kompany in his first year in Munich managed to win only the Salad Bowl. However, things look much better for him now. The Bavarians have recently demonstrated extremely confident results in domestic competition, rarely dropping points and maintaining a clear advantage over their rivals. Their consistency in big matches has also returned, which is why they are once again viewed as one of the main contenders in Europe. The football year started with a summer victory in the Super Cup. Now their dominance in the Bundesliga raises no doubts at all. So on the domestic stage only the cup remains — in April they will play a semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen. For now, however, they can focus on the Champions League. There the Germans were strong in most matches, winning 7 out of 8 and posting the second-best record of the main round… although they did lose to an old and supposedly comfortable opponent — Arsenal. Still, in Germany this spring they can afford to concentrate mainly on the European campaign.
This will be the first visit of the German giant to Bergamo. These Germans are clearly stronger than Borussia Dortmund. The pick here is a victory for the visitors from Munich.
