Aston Villa take on the visitors Liverpool in the round 37 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Monday, April 13th at Villa Park (Birmingham).
Aston Villa suffers from an unusually dense schedule. The Villans are in their second season under Emery's guidance. In the first season, coming into the thick of the battle, Unai managed to lift his new charges to 7th place. This led to the team starting in the Conference League this summer. The English team had no particular problems in the qualifiers or against Ajax in the first round of the playoffs. However, they almost got eliminated in the quarter-finals after a 2-1 loss at home – they were trailing by two goals, but Cash managed to score, and Martinez shone again in the penalty shootout. However, there, Emiliano let in a goal and without the Argentine, the favorite suddenly lost 2-4 at home to Olympiacos, failing to convert a penalty in the final minutes. In Greece, they lost without scoring, 0-2. Problems also started at home. While sensationally holding Tottenham at bay in the battle for 4th place, the bold contender first allowed the unstable Chelsea to come back from 0-2 to draw, and then failed to score against Brighton – who eventually converted another chance into a goal and won. Fortunately, Tottenham didn't fare any better during this period, so there is every chance of finishing in the top 4, and doing so early.

Liverpool have definitely improved – a year ago they finished 5th and missed out on the Champions League. However, their setback in spring was too abrupt. They ended February with a victory in the League Cup – albeit against Chelsea, Mudrik and company played better, and Van Dijk scored the winning goal in extra time. This, as it turned out later, was not the first step towards a quadruple under the departing German's reign but his last trophy at Anfield. Soon Manchester United snatched victory in the cup, and Atalanta shocked everyone with a 3-0 win at Anfield. In the Premier League, the leader had a dismal spell, dropping to 3rd place with a win over Fulham and 5 points in 5 matches. Even a victory over Tottenham in the last match (Klopp's last at Anfield) doesn't change anything in terms of the tournament.
A year ago, Villans finally won after 5 consecutive defeats – and if it wasn't for Firmino's goal, they would have won altogether. But this season, the Merseysiders managed to snatch all 3 points from them at home. Emery seems unable to cope with the decline. And Liverpool, who have finally come alive, should take advantage of this. We bet on the victory of the Reds.
Prediction for the match: Liverpool to win.
