AS Roma take on the visitors Inter in the round 7 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Saturday, October 18th at Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
Roma not so long ago, under José Mourinho, lifted their first-ever European trophy — though it was only the newly created Europa Conference League. Yet neither José, nor his predecessors, nor even his successors managed to achieve the main goal: bringing the club back to the Champions League. Claudio Ranieri, who took charge midway through the 2024/2025 season, came close to a miracle but still lost the race for fourth place to Juventus by a single point. As planned, he retired afterward, with Gian Piero Gasperini stepping in over the summer. Known for his attacking philosophy at Atalanta, Gasperini immediately began rebuilding from the ground up and voiced his dissatisfaction with his strikers, including Dovbyk. Not everything has gone smoothly — defeats such as the 0–1 at home to Torino and Lille (in a match where Dovbyk and company missed three penalties!) showed the growing pains of transition. However, Roma’s new approach is beginning to bear fruit, as they’ve won the rest of their matches and currently sit level with leaders Napoli in Serie A. Their dynamic midfield play and high pressing have already made them one of the most entertaining teams in Italy this season.

Inter leave a rather mixed impression. The “Nerazzurri” claimed the Scudetto in 2024 in impressive fashion. Despite a slip in the Supercoppa that winter, they still challenged for a treble until the very end. However, Simone Inzaghi left his post trophyless after a humiliating 0–5 defeat to PSG in the Champions League final. Under Cristian Chivu, Inter looked modest at the Club World Cup, struggling to find rhythm and balance. Now things seem to be stabilizing again, with the Milan giants riding a five-match winning streak across all competitions. Yet the schedule has been relatively favorable, and prior to that run they suffered back-to-back defeats to Udinese (a shocking 1–2 at home) and Juventus. While Lautaro Martínez remains prolific up front, Inter’s defense has shown signs of fatigue, particularly against fast counterattacking sides. The team’s depth will be tested soon as the fixtures pile up in both Serie A and Europe.
In the 2023–2024 season, the Milan giants defeated Roma four times in a row. But in late April, Roma finally struck back with a win at the Giuseppe Meazza — a result that helped Napoli claim the Serie A title that year. The hosts are being underestimated — and that looks like a mistake. The bet here is on Roma to win with a (0) handicap at home.
Prediction for the match: AS Roma to win with 0.0 handicap.
