AS Roma take on the visitors Como in the round 15 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Monday, December 15th at Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
Roma are now aiming for something they could not even dream of six months ago. In recent years, the Giallorossi have had little to celebrate beyond their Conference League triumph. Neither Mourinho nor his successors managed to bring the club back to the more prestigious Champions League. Still, Ranieri, who arrived amid a prolonged slump last autumn, missed out on fourth place by just one point to Juventus and finished fifth. As a result, the new head coach, Gasperini, has had to settle for Europa League football, where Roma’s performances have been very inconsistent. This week, however, they produced an impressive 3–0 away win over Celtic. More importantly, the Wolves quickly gained momentum in the league and even climbed to the top of the table at one stage. That run was halted by a narrow 0–1 defeat to direct rivals Napoli. In the last round against Cagliari, that same frustrating scoreline was repeated. Despite these setbacks, Roma’s overall league form remains solid and competitive. Recent results suggest they are still capable of responding strongly after defeats and maintaining pressure near the top.

Como spent a long time producing very modest results. As often happens, the turning point came after the arrival of wealthy and ambitious owners. This ultimately led to promotion to Serie A in 2024. Before the start of the campaign, the club was very active on the market, though many signings raised doubts about long-term sustainability. Expectations were cautious, but the newcomers surprised many by collecting 49 points and finishing inside the top ten. This season, they have not only avoided the so-called second-season syndrome but have clearly taken another step forward. Their only defeat came at the end of August, a narrow 0–1 loss away to Bologna. In the previous round, however, a trip to Milan ended in a heavy defeat against Inter. Even so, Como’s consistency over the course of the season has been impressive for a club of their level. Their ability to stay competitive in most matches makes them a tricky opponent, even away from home.
Both in the 2002/2003 season and last season, the clubs exchanged home wins. The Wolves showed in Europe that they are not in crisis, so it is reasonable to expect them to win again on the domestic stage. Both teams tend to play pragmatically, which also makes a bet on total under 2.5 goals worth considering.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 scored goals.
