AS Roma take on the visitors AC Milan in the round 37 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Sunday, April 18th at Stadio Olimpico, Rome.
Roma nearly won the Scudetto under Claudio once before. But in recent years, his successors have consistently failed to qualify for the Champions League. Not even Mourinho managed to lift them into the top four, and the start of this season was marked by instability. De Rossi, who replaced the “Special One,” was made permanent after finishing 6th and falling short in the Europa League semifinal last season. Despite an active summer transfer window, De Rossi was dismissed after a poor start. His replacement, Ivan Jurić, turned out to be a disastrous choice — results were terrible and tensions escalated, including clashes with players. He didn’t last long, and Roma moved quickly to bring back the veteran Ranieri from retirement. The turnaround was almost immediate, with a strong winning streak suddenly placing Roma back in contention for the Champions League. Still, they stumbled in their last test, losing 0-2 to an in-form Atalanta.

Milan have had some success, but expected more. The Rossoneri were back in action this week, playing at this very venue in the Coppa Italia — and lost narrowly to Bologna, with a single goal deciding the tie. Earlier this year, however, they lifted the Supercoppa by defeating both Juventus and city rivals Inter, marking a strong debut for new coach Sérgio Conceição. He replaced Paulo Fonseca, who had failed despite inheriting the reigning Serie A runners-up. The current Portuguese manager has faced his share of difficulties too — notably crashing out of the Champions League in February to modest Feyenoord. Domestically, Milan haven’t been consistently convincing either, despite occasional signs of resurgence. They bounced back last weekend with a solid 3-1 win against Bologna.
Last spring, Roma defeated Milan twice in the Europa League. However, in Serie A they’ve now gone 11 consecutive matches without beating the Rossoneri — including a 1-1 draw earlier this season. Roma are looking far more organized under Ranieri and should be considered serious contenders. Back the hosts with a draw-no-bet handicap.
Prediction for the match: AS Roma to win with 0.0 handicap.
