In the Super Cup against Napoli, however, they lost 0–2 and immediately returned home. Overall, Milan’s league form has been solid and consistent, especially in recent weeks. Verona only came back to life closer to winter. The Mastiffs have often managed to survive in the top division despite showing very little on the pitch. In Serie A, they mostly suffered defeats, at best sharing points. The situation looked hopeless, but in December they first beat Atalanta 3–1 at home. Then, just before the break, they snatched another victory with a late goal, winning 2–1 away in Florence. Now it remains to be seen whether the nearly two-week pause will help or hurt them. On one hand, the team had a chance to rest and reset. On the other, they had finally started winning again after a long bad run, and the interruption could break that momentum.
The 1–0 win at the end of winter became the ninth victory for the Red-Black side in head-to-head matches against Hellas. This is a case where the hosts are expected to win, as a giant is playing at home. We are betting on Milan to get the job done with a “-1 goal” handicap.
