Milan are trying to climb as high as possible after setbacks in 2024/2025. The Rossoneri performed quite respectably under Pioli, even winning the Scudetto and finishing second in 2024. Yet by mid-autumn the Rossoneri had climbed to the top of the table… only to start dropping points frequently in draws. The Derby della Madonnina against Inter was settled by a single goal from Pulisic. Recently Milan have shown a tendency to dominate possession but struggle to convert control into decisive results, which has contributed to their growing number of stalemates. Their home form, however, remains relatively strong, giving them a consistent platform despite occasional setbacks.

Lazio declined rapidly after their runners-up finish. Last season they collected the same 65 points, but firstly lost 6th place to Fiorentina on tiebreakers, and secondly watched the cup go to modest Bologna. As a result, the ambitious club missed out even on the Europa Conference League. They chose to bring Sarri back — after all, it was under him that they previously finished second in Serie A. The new campaign began disastrously for Maurizio, with three defeats in the first four league matches. But the players then produced an unbeaten run, with the only setback coming at this same stadium in a 0–2 loss to Inter. After the international break they claimed a solid 2–0 win against Lecce. Lazio have recently found more balance between defence and transition play, which has helped them limit opponents to fewer chances. Their away performances have also improved slightly, allowing them to stay competitive even against teams in stronger form.
After three straight wins for the Milanese, last season saw a draw in Rome and a 1–2 home defeat in March. Given the circumstances — and especially the home advantage — the favourite here is clear. We expect the hosts to secure a victory at their iconic San Siro on Saturday.
