Zalgiris hosts Mura in the second leg of the Europa League qualification semifinals. The match will be played on Thursday, August 12th at LFF stadionas (Vilnius)
Zalgiris regained the champion’s title in 2020. And the Green-Whites were able to go through the first round of the Champions League qualification, knocking out Linfield. The Lithuanians were able to win both matches at that stage (3-1 at home and 2-1 in Northern Ireland). But the next opponent, Ferencváros, was very strong. Do not forget that last autumn the Hungarians played in the group stage of the Champions League under the management of Serhiy Rebrov. And the Green Eagles were noticeably stronger than Zalgiris and won both games with a total score of 5- 1. Now the Lithuanian club needs to fight with another loser, and the first away match brought a good result in the form of a goalless draw.

Mura got out of the recession in 2018, having taken first place in the 2nd division of Slovenia. And already in 2020, this club won the cup (by the way, it was the second in history, after a pause of a quarter of a century). A year later, the Black-and-Whites managed to win their first champion’s title in history. In a very difficult struggle, they managed to bypass the usual favorite, Maribor, in terms of additional indicators. Among other things, the first place gave Mura the opportunity to try their hand at the Champions League. The Slovenian team confidently eliminated Shkendija (1-0 and 5-0) and even held back Ludogorets at home. Moreover, Mura responded to an early goal in Razgrad but did not endure until the final whistle. In the last 10 minutes, the grandee from Bulgaria managed to score twice. The Black-and-Whites dropped to the Europa League, where a week ago they could not score a single goal against Zalgiris. Moreover, the guests from Vilnius were able to play on a fairly equal level with the hosts.
The teams are not quoted in European football highly, and Mura was unknown to anyone until recently. Not surprisingly, the clubs played against each other for the first time last Thursday. Zalgiris has good chances for overall success, as a 1-0 victory will be enough. And it is unlikely that there will be a large score and a spectacular game in the upcoming match.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 goals scored
