In 2012, Wurzburger Kickers played in the Bavarian Landesliga, at the 6th level of German club football. The fact that the Red Shorts managed to show such progress in such a short period is already a sensation. But objectively, the team absolutely deservedly occupies the last line of the standings. It has only four victories and 15 points after 23 matches played at this level. Moreover, Wurzburger Kickers have scored only 25 goals (Ridge Munsy upset the opponents’ goalkeepers six times) and conceded 49 times. Anyway, the club should not be underestimated - it sensationally beat one of the leaders, Hamburg, on February 21st. The favorite was losing 3-0 by the 54th minute but almost won back. But that 3-2 victory was an exception - the other three out of four last matches ended in defeats.

Heidenheim became a sensation in the last draw. The team, which was quoted as one of the middle peasants, suddenly managed to take 3rd place. In the playoffs, the club looked decent and didn’t lose to Werder Bremen in two matches. But the Red-Blues didn’t win either (0-0 in Bremen, and 2-2 at home), and the more experienced challenger remained in the elite only because of the away goal rule. Heidenheim, as expected, somewhat slowed down in the current championship. It will not be easy, but the team can at least repeat the results of last season. The Red-Blues were rather unstable during the entire tournament. Nevertheless, they managed to gain momentum at the end of winter and earned 10 out of 12 possible points (a draw with Paderborn and three victories over Erzgebirge, Osnabrück, and Fortuna). The guests from Dusseldorf won back twice, but Kleindinst scored the decisive goal in the 83rd minute. However, there is still a considerable gap to the leaders and a little time to compensate for it.
In 2017, Wurzburger Kickers left the 2nd division, and the teams did not meet after that until last fall. In November, Heidenheim hammered its opponent at home (4:1). Wurzburger Kickers can only occasionally take points from opponents. But it is unlikely that this will work with Heidenheim, which has gained momentum. We will bet on the visitors’ victory.
