Fleetwood are struggling, even by their standards. By default, The Cod Army is considered a regular in League 1 at best. Thirteenth place in the previous season was a decent outcome there. However, they are nowhere near replicating it now as the team has plummeted into the relegation zone. After a 1-1 draw with Carlisle in the opening round, they were eliminated from the League Cup and suffered seven consecutive losses in the league. It was only after the arrival of the new manager, Lee Johnson, that things started to improve, albeit not immediately. They first had an away draw with Burton and then defeated Leyton Orient at home thanks to Marriott's lone goal.
Wigan have a good record against this opponent and recently had a streak of four matches without a defeat. However, in August of last year, Fleetwood secured a 1-0 victory at home in the cup. The visitors are weaker than The Latics, so we're betting on a home win.
