Vorskla Poltava take on the visitors Dila Gori in the first leg of UEFA Conference League qualification quarterfinals. The match will be played on Thursday, July 27th at Tychy City Stadium (Tychy).
Vorskla returns to the European arena once again. In 1996, the Green-Whites reached the top tier of Ukrainian football and immediately secured the 3rd place, a feat they managed to repeat in 2018 but couldn't surpass. Additionally, the team reached the cup final twice – sensationally defeating Shakhtar in 2009, and losing to Dynamo in a penalty shootout in 2020. For the third consecutive time, under different coaches, they finished in 5th place in the Premier League, securing a spot in the European competitions. In 2011 and 2018, they participated in the group stage of the Europa League. However, their introduction to the Conference League was unsuccessful in 2021, drawing 2-2 with Finnish side KuPS and conceding a crucial goal at home in extra time. Last summer, they faced AIK twice in Stockholm, losing 3-2 and 0-2 on aggregate. Currently, Skrypnyk has lost several players, including Kravets, Putzlin, Ricardo Lopez, Yavorsky, and Vincent Thill, while only signing goalkeeper Yarmolov from Kremen.

Dila earned the right to play against the Ukrainians. The Georgian club won both major trophies in Georgia, becoming champions in 2015 and lifting the cup three years earlier. They have achieved 3rd place three times in a row in 2020-2022. However, their current results are more modest, but it's too early to make any judgments as the Erovnuli Liga is ongoing. For now, they are focusing on the European competitions. However, their recent performances have been less successful, having been eliminated four times by their first opponents. In the Conference League, they lost to Zilina in 2021 and KuPS last summer. Moreover, they were defeated 1-2 by DAC in Dunajska Streda on July 13th. Nevertheless, Kovtalyuk's goal leaves them with a chance for overall success. A week later, they managed to secure a 2-0 victory at home, with goals from Gail in the 1st half and Araujo after the break.
This will be the first encounter between the Ukrainian and Georgian teams. The Ukrainians are considered favorites in the match, even though they are not playing at their actual home ground. However, since they are just starting the season, it's better to opt for a neutral option with total under 2.5 goals.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 scored goals.
