Valencia hosts Levante in round 1 of Spanish LaLiga. The match will be played on Sunday, September 13th at Estadio de Mestalla (Valencia)
A few weeks ago, the Spanish press wrote that there are serious financial problems in Valencia, and the club is on the verge of bankruptcy. The Bats made a denial, but as they say, there is no smoke without fire, because the team did not make any reinforcements in the offseason, except for a change of head coach. Javi Garcia, who worked with the Russian Rubin, replaced sacked Celades. Valencia finished last season in the middle of the standings. The team took 9th place and was only three points behind the Europa League zone.

Levante finished in 12th place (next to Valencia) in the 19/20 season. In summer, the Frogs traditionally could not afford to go wild in the transfer market. They were content with the signing of free agents and two promising forwards from Real Madrid, on whom they spent about five million euros in total. Levante played several friendly matches in the offseason, and the results were quite successful. Five meetings ended without a single defeat, including the game with Valencia (0-0).
Derby is always a special story, especially in the starting round. Judging by the statistics, Valencia and Levante have played scoring football in head-to-head matches in recent years. They upset each other’s goalkeepers in the last six games, except for a friendly one. Valencia will want to win and will focus on the attack, but Levante may well respond with good counterattacks since there is someone to score. And the Frogs have shown their effectiveness in recent games. I think the option with “Both teams to score – yes” looks quite reliable.
Prediction for the match: Both teams to score - yes
