Turkey faces Italy in round 1 of the Euro group stage. The match will be played on Friday, June 11th at Stadio Olimpico (Rome)
The national team of Turkey was finally able to draw attention to itself in the qualification for this Euro. The team confidently went through the qualifiers, progressing from the group together with the French. Moreover, the Turks scored four out of six possible points in matches against the world champions. Then there was an unsuccessful performance in the Nations League last year. But in the spring Şenol Güneş’s charges pleased their fans. The Crescent-Stars showed their signature football, beat the Netherlands at home (4-2), and hammered Norway on its field (0-3). However, then there was only a draw against Latvia. But it looks like the Turks just relaxed too early: they were ahead 3-1 in the 52nd minute. Before the Euro, they held three friendly matches. This is not to say that Turkey was so impressive in them. It allowed Azerbaijan to open the scoring but then scored twice in response. Then there was a goalless draw against Guinea. And Güneş’s charges showed themselves well only before the end of the preparatory cycle, winning 2-0. However, the opponent was weak Moldova. And then it held out for almost an hour — Yilmaz opened the scoring in the 58th minute.

Italy goes to the tournament as one of the favorites. But in 2017-2018, the country was going through a national tragedy. Squadra Azzurra was only 2nd in the qualifying group, lagging behind Spain. And then the Italians lost to strong but not stellar Sweden (without Ibrahimovic!) in the playoffs. But the bet on Roberto Mancini worked even better than anyone expected. The Italians were able to show one hundred percent result in the Euro qualification. Then the national team won their Nations League group without losing to the Netherlands, Poland, and Bosnia & Herzegovina (three wins and three draws). Taking into account the matches in March and June, the Italians have eight victories in a row. Moreover, they did not concede a single goal in them, and this is another national record that this generation of football players set. On June 4, Roberto Mancini's charges confidently beat the unyielding Czech Republic. The Euro participant was defeated with a score of 4-0, while Immobile and Insigne arranged a goal and an assist each.
The Turks have never won in eight head-to-head matches (three draws and five defeats). Truth be told, both of the last matches (in 2002 and 2006) ended with the same score of 1-1. Bookmakers believe there is a clear favorite in the upcoming game. Moreover, the nominal visitors will be the actual hosts. We recommend betting on the victory of the Italian national team in their native Rome.
Prediction for the match: Italy to win
