Tottenham Hotspur hosts RB Leipzig in the first leg of the Champions League 1/8 finals. The match will be played on Wednesday, February 19th at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London)
It was expected that the arrival of Mourinho would allow Tottenham to improve a game in defense. But the situation is the opposite – the Spurs conceded in almost every meeting, but they have become much more productive than under Pochettino. Last season, Hotspur reached the Champions League finals, so the team has much more experience. This season, Tottenham played 18 matches at its stadium (local championship + Euro cups) and couldn’t score only three times. This happened in meetings with Chelsea, Liverpool and, oddly enough, Newcastle. It is clear that relegation in the 1/8 finals will be a terrible result for both Mourinho and the Spurs in general. I am sure that the English will be able to score on their pitch, but it will be incredibly difficult to keep a clean sheet against Leipzig.

Leipzig is holding a great season - the Bulls are still fighting for leadership in the Bundesliga and are doing pretty well in the Champions League. Timo Werner is showing a great season – the forward scored 23 goals (20 in the Bundesliga and three more in the Champions League). Leipzig is one of the most scoring teams of the season, so it is logical to expect an abundance of goals in any meeting with the participation of the Bulls. I think the German squad will not sit back on heels in the upcoming match, as Nagelsmann constantly says that his team will never play with “the bus”. It’s clear that nobody canceled the away-goal rule. Leipzig has a huge attacking potential, so the Germans will probably play for their goal.
It seems to me it is worth betting that both teams will be able to score. Both Tottenham and Leipzig are fighting for top positions in several tournaments at once, however, the resources of both teams are very large. The match on the English pitch will probably turn out to be productive - I bet on “Both teams to score - yes”!
Prediction for the match: Both teams to score - yes
