This is probably the most status match of the A-League now. After a saved match against Phoenix, the Sky Blues feel quite confident because their 6-point advantage over direct competitors, including Melbourne City, remains. The home winning streak from the beginning of the season amounts to five matches, and the proposed outcome was not recorded only in the last home match against Adelaide.

The City missed a chance to close the gap with the leaders last weekend when it lost to neighbors from Melbourne Victory in the Christmas derby (2-1). This result (a week after the confident 0-4 victory over Newcastle) means that it is difficult to understand the current shape of Eric Mombert’s team before its third away game. However, Melbourne City continues to play productive football away, having ended five of six away matches with Over 2.5 goals scored.
In principle, the standings do not oblige Sydney to play a “stormy” attack, but Sydney’s confrontation with Melbourne cannot be different. In fact, Melbourne is very convenient for Sydney, as it always has been, and only last year, Melbourne managed to break its negative streak against the Sky Blues. Currently, these are the two most scoring clubs, and Melbourne is one of the most unreliable in defense, so the teams are likely to look for success in the alien half of the field and not to sit on the defensive. I expect to see at least three goals, but I will insure my bet.
