Struga take on the visitors Buducnost in the first leg of UEFA Conference League qualification quarterfinals. The match will be played on Wednesday, July 26th at Gradski Stadion Struga (Struga).
Struga have been performing poorly on the international stage. The "Red-Blacks" are a relatively young project, even by North Macedonian standards. The club was founded in 2015 and quickly managed to rise to the top division of the country. Within four years, they made it to the First League. Last season, they even secured the championship there. Additionally, the club has participated in European competitions twice. However, they haven't had much success so far. In 2021, during the UEFA Europa Conference League, they lost to Liepaja with a 1-4 score at home after a goalless draw in Latvia. A similar situation occurred in July against Suduva in the UEFA Champions League: they won 2-1 at home after a goalless draw in Latvia.

Buducnost remain the best in Montenegro. The "Blue-Whites" even participated in the highest division of the unified Yugoslavia. After the separate championship was launched, the club from Podgorica became one of the top contenders, although not without challenges (they even faced the risk of losing their spot in the top league). Nevertheless, they managed to secure their 6th championship title in the spring. In European competitions, they regularly participate but haven't achieved remarkable success, typically progressing past only one opponent at most. This summer, during the UEFA Champions League, they started from the preliminary round and won 3-0 against Athletic Club d'Escaldes, but then suffered a 5-0 defeat against Breidablik, who played on their home ground in Iceland.
The two teams have never played against each other before. Playing at home, the Macedonians are the favorites in this pair. However, it is still premature to say that they are significantly stronger. We expect a "total under 2.5 goals" in this match.
