Stoke City take on the visitors Tottenham at “bet365 Stadium” in the matchday 33 of the English Premier League. The game will be played in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday, April 7th.
It’s hard to find something positive in a performance of the team which has been beaten with 3:0 scoreline, however, there are some promising moments anyway. Despite the thrashing defeat from Arsenal, Stoke City showed great pressing and fighting spirit in that fight conducted on the road and it seemed that “The Gunners” were not ready for that. Stoke City are good enough to strain the opponents during opening 45 minutes of football. However, the pressing takes away too much effort, consequently , the side starts to fail in the second half-time which causes goals conceded.

In their turn, Tottenham also have a tendency to show better play in the second halves than in the first ones. There were under 1.5 goals scored in the first half-times of 11 out of 16 Premier League clashes. For example, this February there were six goals scored in the first halves while there were 12 goals scored in the second ones which is twice bigger number. Such teams as Bournemouth, Chelsea and Crystal Palace were beaten in the second halves. I assume this is what will happen in the matchup against Stoke City.
Taking into account the clubs’ statistics, I believe that Paul Lambert’s tactics is good enough to oppose decently to Tottenham in the first half of the forthcoming fight. But, I am also convinced that the upcoming hosts won’t manage to handle high tempo in the second half-time.
