St. Pauli managed to gain good shape after the winter break. The Pirates of the League and Heidenheim played one of the most spectacular matches of the last round. Still, Timo Schultz's charges had the last word - in the 87th minute, Zalazar brought St. Pauli a 4-3 victory. It was already the 3rd for the Pirates - before that, they beat Hannover and Jahn Regensburg at home and lost only to Bochum that is the 2nd in the standings. In that match, St. Pauli was ahead twice (1-0 and 2-1) but suffered a 2-3 defeat. In general, the Pirates managed to score 11 out of 19 points in January and left the relegation zone. In the previous season, Sandhausen repeated its best achievement and finished 10th in Bundesliga 2.
