In my opinion, La Spezia not quite deservedly made it to the final of the promotion playoffs. Thanks to strange rules, it beat Chievo in the semifinals (a 0:2 defeat away and a home 3:1 victory). According to the Serie B layouts, in case of an equality of goals scored or conceded, the team that took the higher place in the standings in the regular season goes further. Although, according to the same European Cup traditions, the goal scored on a foreign pitch becomes decisive. However, Spezia proved its worth further, having beaten Frosinone in the first leg of the finals (1:0). Truth be told, the team was very lucky in the den of the Lions, who hit the crossbar twice and had some more good attempts. Still, I am afraid that the Eagles’ nerves will simply fail them, although they stand so close at the doorstep of Serie A for the first time in many years. Frosinone is much more experienced in this respect since it has already participated in the top division. I also add that Spezia did not look quite confident in defense in the last home meetings. For example, it has recently conceded goals from Venezia, Cosenza, and Pisa (twice).

As for Frosinone, it is much more convenient for it to fight in an away atmosphere. I can’t say why, but the Canaries have already eliminated Cittadella in the quarterfinals (3:2) and Pordenone in the semifinals (2:0). Before the match with the last team, Frosinone also lost at home (0:1) but then coped with the opponent away.
