Spain hosts Georgia in round 5 of the World Cup qualification. The match will be played on Sunday, September 5th at Estadio Nuevo Vivero (Badajoz)
Spain takes 2nd place in the standings (seven points after four matches). The Red Fury, which reached the semifinals at Euro 2020, still looks unstable in the current qualification. The Spaniards started with a home draw against Greece (1-1), gained a strong-willed victory over Georgia away (1-2), and dealt with Kosovo (3-0). On September 2, Enrique's players lost in an away match against the Swedish national team (1-2). By the 6th minute, the opponents exchanged goals. Carlos Soler scored for the Spaniards, and Alexander Isak equalized the score in one minute. In the 2nd half, the Swedes took the lead and won the match after an accurate shot by Viktor Claesson. The defeat in Stockholm turned out to be historic for Spain. For the first time since March 1993, the Red Fury lost in the World Cup qualifiers. The unbeaten streak, which started after losing to Denmark, lasted 66 matches.

Georgia is in the last fifth place in the group. The Crusaders scored one point in four rounds. Georgian footballers have not gained a single victory in the current qualifying round yet. In March the footballers of Sagnol lost to Sweden away (1-0), did not keep a draw in the home game against Spain (1-2) and shared points with Greece away (1-1). On September 2, the Crusaders met with the Kosovars in Batumi. The game ended with a minimal defeat for the home team (0-1). Despite the advantage in possession of the ball (59% -41%), the Georgians could not create a serious danger in the penalty area of the Kosovo national team in 90 minutes.
Enrique's team has no margin for error. A misfire in the next match can further reduce the chances of taking first place in the group. Failure in Stockholm will motivate the Red Fury, which will do its best to win at home. The chances of success for Enrique's team are good, given the noticeable advantage in the level of players. However, it is unlikely that the Spaniards will be able to win with a large score. Despite the small number of points scored, the Georgians give battle in every game. The Crusaders never lost with a difference of more than one goal in this qualification and were close to a draw in the home game against the Spaniards. Enrique's footballers will once again have a lot of ball possession, but the match against Sweden showed that Spain has little to benefit from this.
Prediction for the match: Georgia to win with +2.5 handicap
