South Korea takes on the visitors Mexico at “Rostov Arena” in in the matchday two of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group stage. The game will be played in Rostov-on-Don on Saturday, June 23rd.
Many expected South Korea to be an outsider of Group F and they were right. The team has lost the previous clash against Sweden with not a single shot on target, having fully deserved that defeat. The Asians looked toothless in the positional attacks as well as in counter attacks while their defense allowed Swedes to feel free. It became clear that Ki Sung-yueng’s side has arrived badly prepared to this Mundial. The team looked unconvincing in the Asian Football Confederation’s Preliminary Competition for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, having gained only four triumphs in 10 clashes conducted with all those victories deserved with a slim margin. This resulted in the head-coach’s replacement which, however, didn’t help the side in the friendly tackles played earlier this June with the logical continuation of this story – failure at the current Mundial.

Mexico probably produced the best football of the whole first round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group stage. And the point is not in the result (1:0 triumph over Germany) itself, the team impressed with its readiness for the battle against the Germans. The Mexicans have paralyzed the opponent, neutralized its strong sides and used the weak ones. “El Tri” succeeded not because of total defense with a scored goal in a single attack. That was an amazing game, the coaching staff made a very effective plan while the footballers have successfully fulfilled it. This Mexico is extremely effective when there is a free space for maneuvers as its strongest weapon is the speed. The Koreans will be forced to surge forward which causes loss of compactness and their upcoming opponents know perfectly well how to make a use of it.
Mexico are the obvious favourites of the forthcoming tackle as in general, it excels the underdog in each element: players class, tactics, psychology. If it had been the first round battle Ki Sung-yueng’s side could have shut out, leaving the Mexicans without their key strength. However, in this situation the Asians will be forced to play the football which is more convenient for their opponents then themselves.
Prediction for the match: Mexico to win.
