Slovenia hosts Cyprus in round 10 of the World Cup qualification. The match will be played on Sunday, November 14th at Stadion Stožice (Ljubljana)
The Slovenian national team, which has a quite interesting selection of players, has long had no chance of continuing the fight for a ticket to the 2022 World Cup. By the way, it noticeably liberated the Slovenes in the last rounds of Group H, where they showed good offensive abilities not only in the confrontation against low-status Malta (4-0) but also in a difficult away match against tough Slovakia (2-2). In the last game, the role of attacking leaders was taken over by two Miha, Zajc and Mevlja. In some way, they gave a rest to the main star of this Slovenian team, the dangerous forward Josip Ilicic. And the hosts will probably continue the attacking trend in the upcoming game, which is almost friendly. After all, this is how the Slovenes should have initially played in the current qualification!

As for the Cyprus national team, it is completely unclear what happened to the Islanders who started this qualification very well. In the last six games, they played a low-budget and second-rate role of whipping boys who made a bunch of stupid mistakes in defense. This is confirmed by the recent matches of the Cypriots against Malta (0-3 and 2-2), Croatia (0-3), Slovakia (0-2), and Russia (0-2 and 0-6). As we see, the Islanders conceded at least two goals in all those matches!
I believe that Slovenia's attack, which has gained a second wind at the end of the qualifying tournament, will easily cope with the completely malleable rear of the Cypriots. They looked simply pathetic in the last match against the Russians, resembling a team like San Marino rather than experienced pros from a football island. I believe that the Slovenes will manage to upset the opponents’ goalkeeper more than once.
Prediction for the match: Slovenia to score over 1.5 goals
