Slovan Bratislava hosts Dundalk in the first leg of the Europa League qualification semifinals. The match will be played on Wednesday, August 7th at Tehelné pole (Bratislava)
Slovan was eliminated from the Champions League. There was a dramatic story in a 2-match confrontation against Sutjeska, and those who are interested may look at the statistics because its’ too long to tell. I’ll add that Slovan lost on penalties. And I want to note right away that the Slovaks play in a very scoring way. As for 24 of their last 30 matches in different tournaments, they scored 2 and often more goals in one game.

Irish Dundalk even managed to get to the 2nd round of the Champions League qualification, having eliminated FC Riga in the first round. But then Dundalk was knocked out by Qarabag. And the Irish have conceded 3 goals in Azerbaijan. Dundalk plays little outside of Ireland. And its defense is all right there. Well, this is not surprising because Dundalk is the most titled club in its country – 10-times champion. But outside the island, its defensive redoubts allows to somehow hold back the onslaught of the relatively equal rivals. If the opponent appears cooler than Dundalk (and there is no doubt that Slovan is a more cool and experienced opponent), the Irish defense begins to make mistakes quite often.
Dundalk started 8 times in the Europa League qualifications. Once, in the season 16-17, it got into the group stage for the first time in his history (it is clear that the team took the last place in the group). It conceded 72 goals in its Euro-League history. And it is likely to concede a couple more in Slovakia. Slovan has no bright stars in the squad, although it is very international. They have a Ukrainian, a Slovenian, a Hungarian, Czechs, Bulgarians and Dutch, and even a Brazilian with a Moroccan and a Spaniard. And now, despite such a legionnaire squad, Slovan is very strong at team game. It has many qualified attacking players, who are likely to organize more than one goal with the help of their teammates.
Prediction for the match: Slovan Bratislava to score over 1.5 goals
