Sivasspor take on the visitors Galatasaray in the round 16 match of Turkish Super Lig. The match will be played on Thursday, January 11th at Yeni 4 Eylül Stadyumu (Sivas).
Sivasspor have been playing at a professional level for over half a century. For a long time, it seemed that their sudden success, highlighted by the sensational vice-championship in 2009, would remain a one-time exception for the club that debuted in the Super League only in 2005. However, at the beginning of the 2020s, there was a real surge: a full-fledged trophy in the form of the 2022 cup and three consecutive starts in European competitions, where they even managed to reach the playoffs of the Conference League last season. However, this had repercussions on their domestic championship results, where they significantly declined, finishing only 12th. Currently, they are doing better but not by much: the team, featuring N'Zhi, Saiss, Manai, Jerson Rodriguez, Barrow, and the almost unused Ahmed Musa, is stuck in the middle of the table, despite two wins in the last three rounds in December. However, by winning 3-1 away against Kayserispor, they managed to climb to at least 10th place.

Galatasaray was clearly aiming for maximum results this season. The Yellow-Reds, led by their former player Okan Buruk, had an impressive previous season, convincingly securing the return of the championship title. Judging by their summer transfer activity, they intended to build on that success. However, their performance has been inconsistent so far. In the Champions League, despite all their star-studded newcomers, the Turks turned out to be weaker than Copenhagen but, on the other hand, stronger than Manchester United. As a result, they move from third place to the Europa League playoffs. In the Super League, they managed to pull away from all pursuers by more than ten points, but not alone, but in the company of their neighbor and eternal rival, Fenerbahce. The head-to-head match ended in a draw, and they had to relocate the Super Cup from Saudi Arabia with scandal. However, this did not affect their morale: they defeated Konyaspor 3-0.
Previously, the Brave managed to hold their own against the Istanbul giant. But last season, a championship season for them, the Lions won both encounters. There's no need to wait for suspense; the guests are clearly much stronger. Let's bet on the victory of the Istanbul giant with a -1.0 goals handicap.
Prediction for the match: Galatasaray to win with -1.0 handicap.
