Sirius take on the visitors AIK at “Studenternas IP” stadium in the matchday 16 of the Swedish Allsvenskan. The game will be played in Uppsala on Wednesday, May 2nd.
Sirius looked rather decent in the previous season, having settled on the seventh position in the Swedish Allsvenskan table and were considered to be the guest side as it earned most of the points on the road. However, the situation has worsened a little this year as the club is sitting now only on the 15th place in the standings with four points gained after five rounds behind. “Blasvart” have got a single triumph, one draw and three defeats with only two goals for and six goals against since the start of the season. The only home fight was finished in 0:0 draw against Hacken. Sirius look helpless in the tackles against the rivals of a higher football class, consequently, I don’t believe they will manage to cope with AIK in the forthcoming encounter.

As for AIK, having taken the silver medals last season, the club wants more as the task for this year is winning the champion’s title of the Swedish Allsvenskan. The team made a suitable start in the season, however, it needs to improve its game at away fields. At this moment “Gnaget” occupies the second position in the table with 14 points collected. The side won all four home clashes while two away clashes ended with 1:1 draws against Malmo FF and Orebro. As AIK are set to win the gold medals in this season, they need to reach stability in results not only in face of their supporters, but also on the road. And the fight against the underdogs is a great opportunity to do this.
Last week AIK deserved a confident 2:0 triumph over Sirius. Last season the visiting side, which is one of the oldest clubs of Sweden, succeeded in both rivals’ head-to-heads with 1:0 and 4:1 scorelines. At this point the teams are in different conditions: AIK look great and fully deserved their current second place in the standings while Sirius have lost three out of five starting clashes and do not impress at all. I doubt that the home-field factor will help the “Blasvart” and better prepared AIK won’t face any difficulties in gaining a victory even despite their visiting status.
