Siena take on the visitors Cosenza at “Stadio Adriatico” in the final battle of the Serie C Promotion Play Offs. The match will be played in Abruzzo on Saturday, June 16th.
Siena lost only one point to Livorno in Group A table and as a club which had settled on the second place in the standings, it deserved a direct pass to the quarter-final stage of the Promotion Play Offs. It should be noted that the side had earned 11 triumphs, two draws and five defeats at away fields within the group, but failed seven out of 13 latest tackles with six wins taken in them. Thus, the hosts’ poor competitive form at the end of the season became the key reason which allowed Livorno to qualify directly to the Serie B. As for Siena’s performance in the Promotion Play Offs, the club has passed over Reggiana 1:2, 2:1 and Catania 1:0, 1:2 only by penalty shoot-out. Besides, at once five footballers of “Bianconeri” stay under suspension for the forthcoming final.

As for Cosenza, the side finished the season, sitting on the fifth position in Group C table as Lecce and Catania were undoubtedly the strongest teams in that group. Although “I Lupi” hadn’t a single chance for direct promotion to the Serie B, still, the side looked awesome at the finishing line, having lost only two out of 16 recent fights. As for the club’s statistics on the road, it is simply amazing: eight triumphs and single failure in last 10 battles. Due to their fantastic conditions in the crucial part of the season, “Rossoblu” easily promoted to the Play Offs final, having beaten Sicula Leonzio 2:1, Casertana 1:1, Trapani 2:1, 2:0, Sambenedettese 2:1, 2:0 and Sudtirol 0:1, 2:0.
In three recent head-to-heads Siena have broken Cosenza exceptionally at their own pitch. Still, the teams’ last meeting dated 2003 when the upcoming hosts won the Serie B for the first time and promoted to the Serie A (spending nine seasons there) while “Rossoblu” relegated to the Lega Pro. I believe that Cosenza are the obvious favourites of the Saturday final as they do not suffer from any problem and produce solid football on the road.
Prediction for the match: Cosenza to advance to Serie B.
