Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv are going to face each other at the Chornomorets Stadium in the 2018 Ukrainian Super Cup. The match will be played in Odessa on Saturday, July 21th.
Usually Shakhtar looks a bit weaker than they really are in the start of new seasons. There are several reasons for that. Talking about the guys from Kyiv they had won the Super Cup match against Shakhtar in 2016 after the penalty shootout but lost with a 0-2 score in the normal time to them in 2017 Super Cup. The team of Alyaksandr Khatskevich has gained a lot of experience since then. Last season they got to the 1/8 round of UEFA Europa League even with an extremely young squad. During the break between the seasons this summer they have intensified the squad with Tche Tche from Palmeiras who is a midfielder and with Sidcley from Atletico Paranaense who is a left back.
Dynamo has a better discipline in the team at the moment than their opponents from Donetsk. Also they have less South Americans in the team even including the once who they have bought this summer. So from the functional standpoint Dynamo is not even a bit weaker than Shakhtar. They haven`t won a single trophy since 2016 and will be really hungry to win the 2018 Super Cup. It is likely that they will not lose at least in the normal time of the upcoming match.
