Serbia hosts Luxembourg in round 5 of the World Cup qualification. The match will be played on Saturday, September 4th at Stadion Rajko Mitić (Belgrade)
Serbia is on the 2nd line in the standings of Group A (seven points after three rounds). The team showed a good start to the current qualification. The Eagles defeated Ireland at home (3-2), gained a draw in the match against the main opponent Portugal (2-2), and beat Azerbaijan away (1-2). On August 20, Stojkovic's coaching staff called up 31 football players to the September matches: four goalkeepers, nine defenders, 15 midfielders, and three forwards. The Serbs gathered an almost optimal squad. Only defender Aleksandar Kolarov was not included in the list. The veteran of the team has not been called up for the national team since last fall. On September 1, the Serbs held a friendly match with the host country of the future World Cup, Qatar. Stojkovic's men sent four unanswered goals into the net of the current winner of the Asian Cup in Debrecen.

Luxembourg is in 3rd position in Group A (six points after three games). This national team is gradually shaking off its reputation as a football dwarf. This can be seen from the team's results in the current qualification. The Red Lions started with an unexpected 0-1 away victory over Ireland. Then Holtz's men lost at home to Portugal in the minority (1-3), although they even were ahead in the first half. On August 25, the coaching staff called up 25 players. Soon, the list of invited players had to be adjusted: defender Eldin Jogovic and midfielder Diogo Pimentel fell ill with coronavirus. On September 1, the Luxembourgers played a home match against Azerbaijan and won with a score of 2-1. The Red Lions took the lead in the 8th minute after a goal by Mica Pinto, and 20 minutes later, the leader of the national team, Gerson Rodrigues, converted a penalty. The Azerbaijanis scored the only goal in the middle of the 2nd half.
The Serbs compete with the Portuguese for the leadership in Group A. Ronaldo's gang is three points ahead of the Balkans thanks to a comeback victory over Ireland (2-1), so Stojkovic's team has no room for error in the upcoming game. Luxembourg is unlikely to score at least one point in Belgrade. At the same time, the rapidly progressing Red Lions will certainly not be left without a goal on a foreign pitch. Holtz's footballers have scored at least one goal in each of three matches in the current qualifiers, and they scored three goals in the previous two games against Serbia in Euro 2020 qualification.
Prediction for the match: Luxembourg to score over 0.5 goals
