RB Leipzig take on the visitors Stuttgart in the round 2 match of German Bundesliga. The match will be played on Friday, August 25th at Red Bull Arena (Leipzig).
The celebration of Bulls winning the country's Super Cup, where Red Bull players defeated Bayern Munich (3-0), dragged on for too long. In that match, Leipzig deservedly won, looked better than the Munich team, outshot them in terms of xG, played to their strengths, and exposed all the opponent's weaknesses. However, in the first round of the Bundesliga, Marco Rose's team suffered a loss to the local Bayer Leverkusen (2-3). Nevertheless, the Pharmacists had more ball possession, more shots on goal, and more corner kicks. They even surpassed the opponent in xG (1.57 against 1.38). Luck was not on their side, although the Bulls definitely didn't deserve the defeat.

It will be very difficult for Stuttgart to take even a single point from Leipzig. In the previous season, the Swabians finished third from the bottom in the Bundesliga table and managed to stay in the elite division of the country's championship only through playoff matches. Stuttgart started the new season with a confident victory over Bochum (5-0). While this is great, overestimating Sebastian Hoeneß's team is still not advisable. It's one thing to play at home against a direct competitor in the fight for survival (and both Swabians and Bochum are likely to be such in the current season). It's quite another to travel away to one of the strongest teams in the country and one of the contenders for the championship title.
The Bulls suffered a loss in their first-round match, while the Swabians started with a win. Nevertheless, bookmakers are still offering a very low coefficient for Leipzig's victory. I have no reason to argue with them – Red Bull players are objectively stronger than their opponent and should easily handle them at their own field. Historically, Stuttgart have had a hard time playing against this opponent – in the last eight head-to-head matches, the Bulls trampled the Swabians seven times. And while Stuttgart managed to secure points against Leipzig at home last season (1-1), they lost to them in all away matches that were played: 1-2, 0-2, 0-4, 0-2, 1-2. I'll take the favorite's victory based on their class, with a modest but workable coefficient.
Prediction for the match: RB Leipzig to win.
