Glasgow Rangers hosts Slavia Prague in the second leg of the Europa League 1/8 finals. The match will be played on Thursday, March 18th at Ibrox Stadium (Glasgow)
The first duel between Slavia and Glasgow Rangers turned out to be a real massacre. The teams pressed each other to death, as evidenced by the very low accuracy of passes. Competent specialists (in the person of Gerrard and Trpisovsky, respectively) have figured out several logical but at the same time entertaining tactical ideas, which they will certainly use in the return leg. And it is not only a matter of high pressure and the intensity of the game. Each of the teams tried to take advantage of their strengths and competently take advantage of the opponent's problems. Slavia delivered 42% of its shots from the left and attacked more often from that flank (44% of the time). It was a clear attempt to overload the area of the injured Tavernier, who is replaced by 19-year-old Patterson. The Rangers, in turn, were more focused on creating dangerous chances through the set pieces and in counterattacks - everything is also clear, given the speed of Gerrard's forwards, and the bold scheme of the opponents' game. I suppose that these and other strategies of the game will again give results in the return match.

Slavia played better in the first match, and, in my opinion, the Czechs deserved to win then. In the absence of such defenders as Jack, Tavernier, Katic, and Balogun (the latter two are not key performers, but could still help given the recent personnel losses), the Prague team is able to score even in an away match. Let me remind you that Slavia gave rest to many of its leaders over the weekend, having coped with Mlada Boleslav without any problems (0-3). The Prague team turned out to be more cold-blooded in the attack precisely in the away match versus Leicester (0-2, compared to the zeros at home) and may repeat the recent success.
Glasgow Rangers is the favorite of the upcoming meeting. The team is completely focused on European Cups, as it has a huge lead in the local league. And Gerard himself has stated that he expects a lot from his guys in the Europa League. The Scots are traditionally unyielding at home and must score under these conditions. In the last round, Gerrard’s team eliminated Antwerp, beating the opponent 3-4 away and 5- 2 at home. I suppose that the return match between these two nice and strong teams will take place in a similar style.
Prediction for the match: Both teams to score - yes
