Qarabag take on the visitors Hacken in the round 6 match of UEFA Europa League group stage. The match will be played on Thursday, December 14th at Tofiq Bahramov Stadium (Baku).
Qarabag confidently remain the strongest club in their country. There was an exception in 2021 when the national historical grand, Neftchi, became the champion of Azerbaijan. However, after that, the gold returned to Baku twice. Currently, they have gradually pulled away from Zira by winter. What they couldn't achieve is a return to the main round of the Champions League – they only passed the Gibraltarian Lincoln in the qualifiers but were eliminated by Rakow. In the Europa League, things are much better. In the qualifiers, the Caucasians defeated HJK (twice 2-1) and Ljubljana's Olimpija (2-0, 1-1), starting the group stage with two wins against the Scandinavians. However, they predictably lost twice to the favorite, Bayer. Most importantly, they failed to win on Molde's field (instead, they secured a 2-2 draw in the 90+ minute). Currently, they have an equal number of points with the Norwegians, and it's crucial to perform no worse than them in the last match.

Hacken have already had an excellent football year. The Wasps fell into the second division of Sweden several times in the early 2000s and spent several seasons there consecutively. However, they managed to secure the championship title last year for the first time in their history. In the spring, they added the country's cup, the third one since 2016. The team finished only in 3rd place in Allsvenskan, 7 points behind Malmo and Elfsborg. However, they achieved excellent, record-breaking results on the international stage – expending a considerable amount of energy and effort, which affected their performances in the Swedish championship. Their debut in the Champions League brought a couple of wins against New Saints, but then, via penalties after draws, they were surpassed by KI Klaksvik. However, in the Europa League qualifiers, they defeated not only Zalgiris but also Aberdeen, winning in Scotland after a home draw. However, in the group stage in the fall, Hacken couldn't even secure a draw, losing to not only Bayer or Qarabag but also neighboring Molde twice, 1-5 and 1-3.
In October, the teams played against each other for the first time. The Azerbaijanis are stronger and in excellent form, especially playing at home. We recommend betting on their success with a handicap of -1.5 goals scored.
Prediction for the match: Qarabag to win with -1.5 handicap.
