Ponferradina continues to gain in strength. At the beginning of the decade, the White-Blues quite confidently settled in Segunda. And they even had designs on achieving something more, having stopped a step from the playoff zone a couple of times. But after relegation in 2016, only after three years did the team return to the second division of Spanish football. For starters, Ponferradina remained in Segunda after finishing in 18th place. Oviedo improved its position in December. Carbayones almost flew to the third division in the last season, but the management changed a mentor before it was too late. Jose Angel Siganda achieved little as a coach, but he was able to lift the club into a safe zone (not without the help of the Ukrainian goalkeeper Lunin loaned from Real Madrid). Oviedo was not far from the relegation zone this fall either. The start was awful – only one victory in the first nine matches. It won in the last two rounds of the Segunda - it minimally beat Sabadell on the road and was more successful in a home shootout with Tenerife (4-2). Gustavo Blanco-Leschuk became the hero of the last meeting. The ex-forward of Karpaty Lviv and Shakhtar Donetsk scored a double by the eighth minute and made an assist a bit later.
Now Ponferradina is slowing down, and this is a chance for Oviedo. Perhaps the visitors will not be able to extend their winning streak, but they must take points. We will bet on their victory with a zero handicap.
