Bordeaux couldn't return to the top division last season. The Girondins are one of the most famous clubs in the country, with 6 championship titles and 4 cups to their name. However, it's worth noting that at that time, due to financial irregularities, they almost faced bankruptcy and were initially relegated to the third division – only through an appeal in court, they managed to play in the 2022/2023 League 2 season. Thus, it's not surprising that they finished in 3rd place and lost in the promotion battles. But now, much is expected from Guion and his team.
In early 2020, Pau managed to eliminate the grand club from the cup, albeit in a penalty shootout.
