Paide take on the visitors Ararat-Armenia in the second leg of UEFA Conference League qualification quarterfinals. First leg result: 0-0. The match will be played on Thursday, July 28th at Parnu Rannastaadion (Parnu).
Paide was founded in 1990 and they have been playing in the Estonian top division since 2009. And it's only recently that something has started to happen. In 2020, the "red-blue" became the vice-champion of the country. In the next draw, they rolled back to 3rd place. And now they are lagging behind not only a couple of favorites, Levadia and Flora, but also Nõmme Kalju. Well, it's time for Karol Voolaid and his team to focus on European competition. Previous attempts were exceptionally unsuccessful. There was a relegation from the 1st enemy, in 2020 it was Zalgiris, last summer - Shlensk. And only in this draw, the Estonians were able to go through the first round of the qualification. Although it was not easy there either: having won 3-2 in Tbilisi against Dinamo, the Balts lost at home (0-1 in regular time, 1-2 in extra time), but won on penalties.

Ararat-Armenia was founded in 2017. Initially, it was something like Pyunik's farm club, a training ground for the academy of this giant. But the owner quickly changed, and with it, ambitions changed. Already in 2019, in the very first season at the level of the country's major league, it turned out to become the champion of the country and it was possible to defend the title in the next draw. But then there was a sharp decline, with a fall to the 5th position (out of 10 participants). It was possible to partially win back the positions: the 2021/2022 season brought the 2nd final place. This means at the same time a return to European competition. Past attempts were identical: relegation in the Champions League from the very first opponent, and failure in the decisive round of Europa League qualification. Now the debut in the Conference League was also not the best: at home, the "white-blacks" limited themselves to a goalless draw. Yes, the Armenians had a certain advantage in possession of the ball, but what's the point if everything ended with the 1st shot on target?
The game on July 21 was the first between these clubs. Prior to that, Armenians had never met with Estonians even on a friendly level. Bookmakers believe that the second leg can go in 3 directions. The one who opens the score is most likely to win. So we bet on "total under 2.5 goals".
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 scored goals.
