Norway take on the visitors Scotland in the round 3 match of UEFA Euro qualifications. The match will be played on Saturday, June 17th at Ullevall Stadion (Oslo).
Norway were strong at the end of the previous century. However, after Euro 2000, where they achieved victory and a draw but failed to advance to the playoffs, the Scandinavians haven't made much of an impact anywhere else (except for winning their group in the inaugural UEFA Nations League, but they were in Division C back then). Of course, the current generation is expected to break through, simply because they have mega-stars like Edegor and Haaland (although there are other talented players performing in top divisions, from Nyland in goal to Serloth up front). However, they have yet to meet expectations, neither in the qualifiers nor in the UEFA Nations League, where they started the previous campaign with 10 points from 4 matches but then spoiled their chances by losing to Slovenia and Serbia in September. They haven't been able to improve in the new calendar year either. The Euro qualification began with a 0-3 loss to Spain. Perhaps even worse was the draw against Georgia when they took the lead in Batumi but allowed the hosts to equalize, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Scotland found themselves in a similar situation for a long time, unable to make any breakthroughs after 1998. It was only the introduction of the UEFA Nations League playoffs that helped them secure a place in Euro 2000. There, however, the Scots settled for a goalless draw against their neighbor and arch-rival, England. But it seems that allowed the "Bravehearts" to regain some confidence. In the subsequent qualification, they managed to earn a direct spot in the playoffs. However, in Glasgow, Steve Clarke's men lost to Ukraine, who had little game practice. Nevertheless, they immediately avenged that defeat by winning against the "Yellow-Blue" in a battle for the top spot in the UEFA Nations League. Currently, Scotland is starting a new cycle, and they exceeded expectations in March. Not only did they secure an expected victory against Cyprus at home, but they also thrashed the underdogs 3-0. They then went on to hold Spain, the clear favorites of the group, to a 2-0 victory in the second match, with McTominay scoring a brace out of nowhere. Scott is still in the squad, but Che Adams is injured. There is also a setback with Ralston, the Celtic defender who was even included in the squad.
There have been a total of 11 matches played, and the "Bravehearts" have a noticeable advantage. However, they won the first three head-to-head matches, after which there has been a more balanced record with many draws and two wins for each team. Holland and company are considered favorites, which is understandable as they are playing at home. But Scotland is also a strong team, so it is worth betting on "over 2.0 goals" in total.
Prediction for the match: Over 2.0 scored goals.
