Newcastle United hosts Sheffield United in round 37 of the English Premier League. The match will be played on Wednesday, May 19th at St. James' Park (Newcastle)
Newcastle United did not show stable results throughout the season. Having scored only 39 points, the Magpies could have fought for survival (although it is often enough to score one less, there were exceptions). But in this championship, three teams have not yet scored even three dozen points, so the struggle for places in the elite was over by May. For Steve Bruce's charges, it was another success. They even started to play unusually open football in the last rounds. And they even managed to beat Leicester 2-4 away. Moreover, the champion Manchester City managed to concede three times from the Magpies (and Carson, who finally appeared in the starting lineup of the Citizens, saved a penalty). However, the grandee won that match despite the experimental lineup (a 3-4 away victory).

Sheffield United was one of the discoveries of the previous season. The newcomer, whom no one was expecting in the elite, turned out to be unexpectedly competitive and took a place in the European cup zone for a long time. But this tale ended in the first year in the Premier League. Chris Wilder's men started the next season without new ideas and with a bunch of problems. As a result, they occupied the last place very quickly and did not even have a chance to leave it. There was only one intrigue: will the anti-record of Derby County be broken? With fits and starts, the Blades manage to score more points than the Rams. But it is the only thing that Sheffield players can be proud of (as well as some sensational successes like a 1-2 victory over Manchester United). Their new manager, Paul Heckingbottom, was clearly invited to fight in the Championship in the 2021/2022 season. In the meantime, the Blades can play for their pleasure.
Newcastle was able to win both head-to-head matches in the previous season. But in the current draw, the Blades gained one of their rare victories just in the January match against the Magpies. Now Newcastle is unlikely to try too hard, but on the other hand, why cannot the team please its fans with a victory at St. James's Park at the end of the season? Probably, there will be no resistance from the visitors, so we bet on the hosts to win.
Prediction for the match: Newcastle to win
