Netherlands faces Czech Republic in the Euro 1/8 finals. The match will be played on Sunday, June 27th at Puskás Aréna (Budapest)
The Netherlands national team are ready to rehabilitate themselves in front of the fans for the humiliating result of 2016. Then, for the first time in 14 years, the Netherlands missed a major football competition, having failed to get through the qualification round. And it was the Czechs who held their feet to the Dutch fiasco. They beat the Oranges twice and finished first in the group. Five years later, the Dutch locked up a place in the knockout rounds after two matches. In the first round, they prevailed over the Ukrainian team in a tense struggle (3-2). The second game brought a confident victory over Austria dry (2-0). And the Dutch finished the group stage with a major victory over the debutant of the final stage, the North Macedonian team (3-0). Frank De Boer's men have entered the trio of teams (alongside Italy and Belgium), which have completed the first round of UEFA EURO 2020 with a 100% result.

The Czechs started this EURO with a confident 2-0 win over the Scots. Both goals were scored by Patrick Schick. Moreover, the second goal of the Bayer striker was the farthest in the history of the tournament. He hit the target from 45.45 meters. Schick's third goal in the tournament allowed his team to score one point in the match against Croatia (1-1). And in the final match, Yaroslav Sylgavy's charges lost to the winner of Group D, the Englishmen (0-1). The Czechs did not show a spectacular game, but they secured a positive difference between scored and conceded goals (3-2) and became the second in the rating of the third-placed sides.
The meeting in the 1/8 finals on June 27 will be the 12th in history for these teams. The Dutch won five times, the Czechs gained three victories, and three more times the teams didn’t determine the strongest. The teams scored at least two goals in their last six games. And the average total is 3.5. The Netherlands team is the clear favorite of the pair. Considering the results of the teams in the groups, there is no reason to doubt the final success of Frank De Boer. On the other hand, the Dutch did not have any really serious opponents in Group C. And the two conceded goals from the Ukrainians were to a greater extent a combination of the opponent's luck and the relaxation of the Oranges themselves. We have no doubt that the Netherlands will make it to the quarterfinals.
Prediction for the match: Netherlands to win
