Napoli take on the visitors Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of UEFA Champions League 1/8-finals. The first leg result: 2-0. The match will be played on Wednesday, February 15th at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona (Naples).
Napoli have become a phenomenon of this season. Although there have been some setbacks in the second half of the season, there is still a lead of about 15 points over their not-so-stable predecessors. Nonetheless, Napoli are ready to celebrate the return of the "scudetto" - the previous such triumph here was secured by the iconic Maradona. Interestingly, Diego Armando is being compared to the newcomer, Kvaretskhelia. Thanks in part to the goals and assists of the Georgian, Napoli have been able to establish such dominance in Serie A. Moreover, having returned to the Champions League at last, they are doing well there too. It all started with a rout of Liverpool in the opening game of last fall's group stage right here at the San Paolo. By the way, they only let the English beat them in November, winning all the other matches, including the playoffs, confidently starting off in Germany in the winter.

Eintracht saved last season precisely thanks to international competition. The coach, Oliver Glasner, made a bet on it. As a result, the Bundesliga’s result was a failure, where they finished in the lower third of the table, but they won the Europa League, which more than made up for everything else. Currently, the Eagles have been generally doing well in the national championship, but in February, problems started at the most inconvenient time, leading to a series of losses, sometimes quite unexpected. They clearly didn't do well in the Champions League either. Although in the fall, the Germans looked pretty good there, being quite competitive in an unfamiliar tournament. At least they managed to advance from the group, beating more experienced opponents such as Marseille and Sporting. With audacity, the debutants tried to stun the visitors from Italy at home from the start in the playoffs. But in the end, Napoli turned the situation around. Not even a missed penalty couldn’t stop Luciano Spalletti's team from finishing with 2-goal advantage.
Before this, the clubs only met once in 1994, in the long-reformatted UEFA Cup. Then, the Germans were stronger in both matches, winning 1-0 at home and away. It is difficult to find tournament intrigue here - even for overtime, the Germans need to win by 2 goals after 90 minutes. So we expect that the players will just play for pleasure, their own and the fans', and a bet on "total over 2.5 goals" seems obvious.
Prediction for the match: Over 2.5 scored goals.
