Mura hosts Zalgiris in the first leg of the Europa League qualification semifinals. The match will be played on Thursday, August 5th at Mestni stadion Fazanerija (Murska Sobota)
Mura won the last Slovenian championship for the first time in its history, thanks to which the club made its debut in the Champions League qualification this season. Of course, the debut turned out to be inglorious. If the Black-and-White destroyed the Macedonian Shkendia in the 1st round (5-0 at home and 0-1 away), then the 2nd round ended with a defeat to the Bulgarian Ludogorets on aggregate (1-3). It was quite natural, as this is only the 7th start of Mura in European competitions, where it never went beyond the qualifying rounds.

Zalgiris repeated the path of the upcoming opponent in the Champions League qualification. Having overcome the barrier of the 1st round in the person of Linfield, the Lithuanian club subsequently lost both matches to Ferencváros (0-2 and 1-3).
It is not entirely clear why Mura is not just a favorite, but a big one. In the first match, bookmakers offer a coefficient of more than 4 on the victory of the visitors! There are no losses in the squad of the Balts, and they are not inferior to the Slovenes in terms of the level. Moreover, the Green-Whites have a larger experience of performing in European competitions. The home pitch for Mura? Well, yes, it would be a weighty argument, if not for 9 lost matches out of 13 played in European tournaments over the past 26 years. Zalgiris lost with a difference of more than 1 goal in only three out of 30 last games, and two of them were played just in the current qualification against strong Ferencvaros. Mura is not Ferencvaros, The Slovenian club is much weaker than the Hungarian one, and the Lithuanians may well even gain an away draw. We bet that the visitors will not lose with a difference of more than one goal.
Prediction for the match: Zalgiris to win with +1.0 handicap
