Monaco hosts Rennes in round 19 of French Ligue 1. The match will be played on Wednesday, December 22nd at Stade Louis II (Monaco)
In the last championship, the Monegasques finally reminded of themselves. They lagged behind PSG and Lille, but 3rd place was enough to return to the Champions League. But Monaco was eliminated by Shaktar Donetsk in the qualification playoffs in a very dramatic way. However, the Red-Whites were able to win their group in the Europa League and broke right into the 1/8 finals. In the national championship, Niko Kovac's charges stalled at the start (one victory and five points scored in the first six rounds). But Golovin and the company are far from stable even now, so they are out of the European competition zone. Their 5-match unbeaten run was interrupted by a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the last round.

Rennes is not bad, but it lacks stability. The Red-Blacks have achieved good results more than once in recent years. They participated in European competitions several times, and most importantly, they gained a victory in the cup (2019) and bronze medals of Ligue 1 (2020). But a decline began in the last draw, and it became a verdict for Julien Stephan, with whom the abovementioned successes were associated. In the summer, Bruno Genesio became the coach, and he is doing well so far. His team scored 31 points in 18 rounds, and only Marseille and PSG have more. On the other hand, the long series of successes (seven wins and two draws in the championship and good results in the Conference League) has clearly come to an end. First, there was a 1-2 defeat to Lille at home. In the last round, this result was repeated in the match against another strong opponent, Nice. But Rennes gained a 0-5 away victory between those failures! However, the Red-Blacks faced Saint-Etienne, which is frankly weak at the moment.
In this pair, the stadium factor has a rather noticeable influence. An away side very rarely wins in head-to-head matches, and the club that played at home invariably gained victory in the last three games. Monaco looks much worse in the current season than in the previous one. But it will play at home, and Rennes seems to be slowing down before the holidays. We will bet on the Monegasques to win with a zero handicap.
Prediction for the match: Monaco to win with 0.0 handicap
