Mirandes hosts Ponferradina in round 33 of Spanish LaLiga 2. The match will be played on Sunday, March 27th at Estadio Municipal de Anduva (Miranda de Ebro)
Mirandes tries its hand in the Segunda for the second time. The first time the Reds managed to climb this level was in 2012, and they spent five years there. Then the maximum result was 8th place in the standings and quarterfinal stage in the cup. But the results worsened after that, and Mirandes had to spend several seasons in the third division. A new phase began a couple of years ago. First, there was a great success in the Copa del Rey, where the Reds were stopped only in the semifinals. And in the next season, they managed to take tenth place in the LaLiga 2 standings. The current results are much worse: only 39 points after 32 rounds and 16th position. And we can already say that there is actually nothing to fight for. Real Sociedad B, which is the best among the outsiders, is as many as nine points behind, and such a handicap cannot be lost in ten remaining rounds. Interestingly, this gap was created in the last month. Starting from February 26, the men of Joseba Etxeberria (the same Basque striker known in the past) were able to gain three victories over Tenerife, Cartagena, and Real Sociedad B. Will Mirandes players continue this streak or just relax?

In the last fifteen years, Ponferradina has periodically gained promotion to the Segunda and left it. The first attempt was limited only to the 2006/2007 season: the debutant took 20th place and returned to the 3rd division. The second segment was just as "long": 21st place in the 2010/2011 season. And only a year later the White-Blues managed to gain a foothold in the second division. They even were able to climb to seventh place twice and left LaLiga 2 again only in 2016. And after three years, a new campaign of Ponferradina in this league began. The first year brought only the 18th position, but in the 2020/2021 season it even managed to climb to 8th place. Now the results are even better, and Ponferradina rounds out the top six. Beyond that, it has not lost in the last six rounds in a row. But do not overestimate Bolo’s men. Firstly, a draw with Eibar (by the way, La Ponfe was ahead by two goals until the 74th minute) has become the fourth in a row. Secondly, the gap from Cartagena and Oviedo is not large (five and points, respectively).
The teams were on an equal footing for quite a long time. But Ponferradina has begun to dominate lately. It has won five head-to-head matches in a row, including a 2-1 victory in early December. Now bookmakers consider Mirandes to be the favorite, but Ponferradina also has something to fight for, so it is better to bet on an exchange of goals scored.
Prediction for the match: Both teams to score — yes
