Melbourne Victory returns to the fight in the championship. So far, the 2019/20 season in A-League has been something like a test for Victory, but an unexpected 2-1 win over Melbourne in the 11th round gave the Boys in Blue hope for a resurgence. Victory and Jets, who are at the bottom of the tournament standings, are separated by three points, but a victory of the Melbourne team will help it move to the top of the standings, albeit temporarily. However, it will not be so simple to do this because Melbourne Victory has negative statistics of performances in the home arena, having won only once and not conceded in two of six matches.

Newcastle looked quite strong middle peasant until three consecutive defeats in rounds 9-11, in which the Jets scored just three goals and conceded 12, brought them to the bottom of the standings. On the one hand, a point earned against Brisbane Roar last weekend should be a relief for the Jets, but on the other hand, they were in the lead throughout the match and conceded in the 87th minute. Still, I am more inclined that this draw is more of a positive thing than a negative, given the previous streak of defeats. By the way, the Jets play quite confidently away, and they managed to hit the nets of the most defensive teams, Sydney and Perth Glory.
This is the first meeting of the teams this season, but we all remember their cup match last year, when Melbourne missed the victory, being ahead with a 2-0 score. Both teams approach this match with a good mood, so I expect to see something similar to their last match. I’m not sure that the winner will be determined, but I’m sure that the match will turn out “hot”. I’ll bet on Both teams to score - yes.
Prediction for the match: Both teams to score - yes
