Manchester United take on the visitors West Ham in the 1/8-finals of English FA Cup. The match will be played on Wednesday, February 1st at Old Trafford (Manchester).
Manchester United has been forced to play at an incredible pace of one match every 3-4 days almost all season long since it resumed. The team has become a hostage to its own success in some ways. On Sunday, they played the final of the League Cup against Newcastle at Wembley and managed to win the trophy with a 2-0 score, which was the first trophy won by a top club since 2017. Furthermore, they had to play against Barcelona again on Thursday. The draw brought the two giants together in the Europa League Round of 16, and it was a spectacular match. The English team managed to hold on to a determined 2-2 draw at Camp Nou. After that, they conceded first on their own pitch against Barcelona from an unnecessary penalty, but they managed to come back and win with two gritty goals, making it 2-1. Of course, their primary objective remains to climb as high as possible in the Premier League table. It is unlikely that they can compete directly for the trophy given the problems faced by Arsenal and City. However, after the break and without Ronaldo, they managed to climb from fifth place to third.

West Ham bought summer recruits of the caliber of Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta for a reason. However, they are now fighting for survival. They did recently manage to beat a direct rival, Everton, which is why Lampard was fired and not Moyes. Following that, they drew against strong opponents, Chelsea (with all due respect to the problems the Blues are facing) and Newcastle. However, they suffered a hopeless 0-2 loss to Tottenham. Nevertheless, they compensated for this with a 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. All the goals came in the final period, after the 70th minute. Moreover, they have not forgotten about the cup. In the previous round, they only faced Derby, which is now playing in League 1. However, before that, they knocked out such a strong neighbor as Brentford.
Of course, Manchester United won the majority of the games against West Ham. In 2022, they won both games against the Irons, and with the same score of 1-0. So, without inventing anything, we bet that Manchester United will win in regular time.
Prediction for the match: Manchester United to win after full time.
