The Montenegro national team has noticeably slowed down in recent years. In the last draw of the Nations League, they almost relegated to the weakest League D. In qualifiers for Euro 2020, the team failed miserably and took the last place in its rather equal group, having scored only three points. For comparison, a rather weak Kosovo team managed to earn 11 points in that group.
