Le Havre take on the visitors Brest at “Stade Oceane” in the relegation/promotion Play Off of the French Ligue 2. The game will be played in Le Havre on Tuesday, May 15th.
Le Havre have occupied the fourth place of the French Ligue 2 standings and compared to last season’s eighth position the progress is immense. In order to promote the play-off final the Oswald Tanchot’s side must win three following battles: at first against Brest, then AC Ajaccio and finally to beat the third worst club of the Ligue 1. Le Havre have been waiting for their return to the French elite division for 10 long years and frankly speaking, they seem to be one of the main favourites in that race. “Les Ciel et Marine” deserved the third place in the home rankings as they failed only once at the home turf against the outsider Quevilly Rouen which was of course a matter of chance. In total Le Havre have got five draws with the rest of the home matches ended in their favour.

In their turn, Brest have settled on the fifth position in the Ligue 2 table with 65 points gained and with 58-44 goal difference, just like they did last year with 65 points taken and 58-43 goal difference. The side was lucky with the calendar as it had faced Clermont, Bourg Peronnas and Quevilly Rouen in the decisive tackles. In four recent battles conducted on the road Brest collected three draws against Orleans 1:1, Sochaux 1:1 and Chateauroux 2:2 draw against together with 0:1 defeat from Le Havre. It is worth mentioning that at away pitches Brest took 11 points less than Le Havre did in front of their fans. The team managed to succeed only in four out of last ten clashes conducted on the road with three of them over the rivals from the lower part of the standings. Besides, the forthcoming visitors on average conceded more than a goal in each away tackle.
Le Havre’s recent triumph over Brest at “Stade Oceane” was the first one since 2003, thus, the upcoming visit may be very tough for Jean-Marc Furlan’s side as Le Havre have become even stronger. Play Off status of the fight equals the chances, however, the home-field factor is the key element here. “Les Ciel et Marine” are of course considered to be the favourites of the game as they excel their forthcoming opponents in all the aspects. Besides, as the Play Off consists of the single battle it will be suffice for Le Havre to score and not to concede in order to promote to the next round.
Prediction for the match: Le Havre to win with +0.5 Asian handicap (1X) and under 3.5 scored goals.
